I ask this question because most atheists I encounter are atheists because there isn't any proof of the existence of God. The Qur'an, which was written well over a thousand years ago, goes into great detail about various scientific facts.

Some of these include the anatomy of a fetus, how stars are created and function of the brain.

SO I would like to knwo if any atheists have studied Islam and read the Qur'an?

I'm not an atheist, but studying all religious scripture to discredit it, will not only take you for ever, but is also pointless.

Yes, I've read the Quran from cover to cover, but I am sorry to tell you that it has not convinced me. It is simply not true that it contains scientific facts that Mohammad couldn't know. And what it says about the anatomy of a fetus is false! It says that first the bones were created and then covered with flesh, and this is false. And that sperm is necessary for the procreation of a child is not specific scientific knowledge but something that could very well be known 1400 years ago, it is simple observation. I don't remember that there is anything about the function of the brain in it.
I am sorry, I don't want to attack your faith, but just want to tell you that you can't convert me this way.

I've read the Qu'ran three times.

The description of the development of the foetus is the best available to the mid 7th century, when the Qu'ran was written, a description that would have been found int he Library of Alexandria.

Sadly, it's an incorrect description. The Qu'ran gets this wrong.

If you can rule out the God based on the jewish texts then you don't have to waste your time with Christianity and Islam.

Describes in detail many things that I think an intellectual atheist may find interesting.

Also the world reknowed embryologist, Dr. Keith Moore, said the description of the embryo in the Qu'ran was amazingly accurate, and possibly better than the descriptions used nowadays.
