Turkey is not a good place for women to live. Because of the dominant Muslim population the court system heavily favors the male Muslim. Wife beating is rarely punished, if ever.
If Turkey forbids the head scarfs its because they want to be perceived in the west as being an open society. But they don't fool anyone. Turkey is a beautiful country with great food, wonderful beaches and many other qualities. But I really wouldn't want to live or even go there under the current system.

I think that Muslim woman should be allowed to wear whatever they want in America. Other countries get to make their own laws but here there aren’t any fashion police (even though we could use some). If a Muslim woman wants to wear The Veil or just a head scarf it’s none of my business. But they must accept all the responsibility for this choice. I live in Denver and a couple of women who are Muslim and wear a scarf wanted to ride some of the attractions at the local amusement park. The rule on these attractions is that you cannot wear any head gear. No glasses, no hats, no scarves. They were very upset when they weren’t allowed to ride with their head scarves. This rule was not intended to offend anyone and was made ensures the safety of everyone. They are talking about suing and I hope they lose because grown-ups must deal with the consequences of their action. They wanted to ride the ride they refused to remove their head gear they were told no, the same I would be if I wanted to wear my glasses.

What kind of a question is this? For me it is as silly as asking "Why USA police always blame black people for crime?" or "Why USA people like child pron more than any others?"

Just for answering, in Turkey women are free to wear head scarfs in public. "Hijab" (which became a political sign of radical islam) is only forbidden to be worn in educational and governmental places. On the streets you can see lots of women wearing hijabs.

Question itself has a ironic part. 92% of Turkish citizens' are muslim. But that doesnt mean that Turkey should be ruled under religious rules. Ironic part is, freedom and rights you have did not help you to learn researching or help you to get rid of your preconceptions.

Ppl who wrote negative things, can you provide us links to prove your thoughts? If you can not, what do you call blaming a country without any proof and knowledge?

The same goes for France. Muslim girls are forbidden from wearing hijab in school and they deny access to Muslim women in universitites if you wear the veil. The Netherlands are trying to ban women from wearing the abaya in public because it "shows that Muslim women don't want to integrate into normal society and is a form of oppression". It has to do with the hijab being seen as a religious symbol.

The secular government of Turkey is trying to bring about a cultural change by supressing what they consider to be radical Islam.
