Dogs should not sleep outside. If a dog is kept outside they will develop behavioral problems. It is best if they stay inside with the family.
Tell your husband to screw off and bring your puppy inside.

You should have set the ground rules before you got a husband. If you do put the dog outside make sure he has shelter and if it's cold you need straw, but if you live where it's real cold, like me in Alaska they need to be inside, especially at night. If you want this whole relationship to work you and your husband need to sit down and set some rules and agree on them or nothing is going to work. Animals are like kids and they need love and attention, hopefully your husband will see that. Good Luck!

It is so important that the dog is around people especially at that age. They need to learn from you and socialize with all the family members. Does your husband like dogs because it seems like when most people get home from work the first thing they would want to see is a cute little puppy? I think it's crazy that he should have to wait outside and he should even be able to sleep inside...i don't think that is spoiling a dog.

I never understood why people had dogs if they were to be outside all the time. My dogs are always in at night and during the day they are in the garden when we are at work.
Maybe you can tell your husband the you will let the puppy out often during the day so he gets used to the yard when you go back to work, but at night there is no reason that i can think of that would necessitate him having to stay outside. Maybe your husband just wants to make sure he has your attention to himself. Compromise and tell your husband that your puppy will go out every hour or so(you set the times) and then come back in. You have to come to a middle ground without the puppy suffering. Also remind your husband that dogs are pack animals and dont do well by themselves. They look to you to be their Alfa dog and they will WANT to be around their family. I think it is tragic and heartbreaking to see a dog left outside all the time.
Does your husband consider giving you or your children love as spoiling? Pups need love and attention and they will continue to want and need this kind of attention all through their lives. There is nothing wrong with a pup or a dog spending time in the yard, but they will mostly want to be in with their family, as it should be.
Some people think of animals as just animals. They have strong feelings just like we do and I do unto my animals like i would want done unto me. If you have children or a new baby just make sure to give your man plenty of attention and tell him he is Superman then he will give you whatever you want.

There is no way any puppy of mine would be left outside at night! Since when is this considered spoiling? All dogs want to be inside with their family. Especially such a young puppy.
Put your husband outside for the night, maybe he will understand what it feels like!

When it comes to my dogs or husband humm my husband would be outside waiting lol. And another thing my puppy wouldn't not be sleeping outside. Sounds like your husband is sort of jealous of a dog..Makes me wonder what he would do with a child.

My dogs stay inside even though they're big, german shepard and sheltie/chow. They go out for potty, then come right back inside again if its too cold, too hot, raining, snowing, icy rain, any kind of bad weather...
Your dog needs to spend some time with you too. Why else would you get a dog if you where just going to leave it outside all the time?
