Not saying that that's not the right thing to do.....But normally in Thank You cards, or notes, you write to them and tell them what you are thanking them for. Like the outfit, or toy, etc. Might not be a good thing to do, exspecially when you will have more than one person and they are going to think, well i must have just been another card with money in it. You get my drift? People like to receive Thank You cards in the mail after the event.

Hope that I can be of some help to you. Oh and happy b-day to your son.

Jack C is right. The party having mostly adults in attendance, is a non-issue when it comes to the proper way to say "thank you" for gifts received and for their presence at the party.

Thank You notes should be written after the party, thanking individuals specifically for what gift they gave, or for simply attending to celebrate the happy occassion of your son's 1st birthday, and then mailed.

Giving everyone a generic thank you at the time of departure from the party will appear tacky and lazy - no matter how good your intentions are.

If they are willing to take the time to come celebrate with you, you should be willing to thank them appropriately and spend the 37 cents on a stamp.

The others are correct- you can thank people as they leave the party, but for thank you cards, it's best to personalize the message and thank them for their specific gift. Since they all know you have a small child, I'm sure they won't expect cards immediately so you'll have time to get the personalized msgs together.

I would like to know what this party is turning into an adult party?Thats really tacky and unfair to the child. The day should be about the child not the parent and all their freinds. All he needs is a couple little buddies and some cupcakes not an adult party.I once went to a five year olds birthday party. His Dad and Mom and all their freinds thought it was a great time to get drunk and party for the childs birthday .Its tacky and uncaring of the parent.

Sure why not,but...at children's parties, you usually give every child present a "Treats Bag" usually consisting of a toy, healthy candy, and other goodies,,,for kids only...if it has turned into an adult party,,,sorry, I personally wouldn't.

I don't think that would be appropriate.
