The clipboard is a part of the in-memory "box" that you use to copy information (from a source) and paste it in the destination. For example in Text editing programs, when you do copy (usually CTRL+C the selected text stays in Clipboard until you Paste it or copy something else). You can see it as a temporary buffer where the text/image are stored for a short period of time. In order to use it, after you copy info to clipboard, open a program, like word and paste it there (CTRL+V or "Paste" from the menu)
