Be prepared by reading breed history on the internet. The Min Pin is not a first time dog nor is it by nature a lap dog. Though can be delicate in most cases it is not. I am a long time former breeder who now rescues Pins and currently have 10.
This breed by nature is a very independent breed. It does not generally do well with over handling and loves it's freedom. It is a Toy breed only in the US and UK but in fact is a terrier. Out of all the toy breeds in the US, the Pin is the only one that still has maintained it's inherited instincts to perform what it was bred to do, ferret out rats, mice etc. Therefore it needs to be on a halter leash anytime it is outside unless in a Min Pin proof secured fenced yard. This breed is also the greatest escape artist of all breeds and will find a weakness in a fence in short order. They are energetic dogs and need to wear off the energy regularly. Play toys especially those that squeak are the most common that they enjoy. They are not recommended for apts in fact they are rated the 3rd worst dog for apts primarily due to their guarding instincts which draws a lot of barking and in turn neighbor complaints. Over handling will in most cases bring on nips and occasion biting issues. Though not aggressive by nature to people as they are usually very loyal, the excessive handling or forcing them to stay on your lap etc takes away from their inherit independent attitude which was needed in this breed. In addition they are prone to getting into trouble quite easily. They do not see themselves as little dogs and therefore more often then not find themselves taking on foes much larger. Caution and a great deal of patience is required with this breed. If shown that one does not overly handle and gives them the space they need they will be rewarded with a volunteer lap dog that will want to be under the covers in bed with you every night. They will let you know when they want attention and also let you know when they do not. Always keeping in mind that this is in fact a terrier not a toy dog is one of the main keys to understanding if the Pin is in fact the right dog for someone. It depends on what it is you are looking for with regards to your lifestyle. I therefore recommend you read up breed history on the Pin to be sure this breed is something you truly want and can handle. Good Luck.

They are a bit needy. If you want a lap dog, get a min pin. They tend to be barky too. They make good guard dogs though. They will bark and chase off an intruder but will only go so far and not attack them. I have owned 3 min pins.

I had 2 min pins both where great dogs. They are very cute and playful dogs I would recommend them to anybody. And if you want a little bit bigger min pin but not to big like a medium size dog you should go with a german pincher they look just a like

They can se busy and are barkers. Not just barking but some shriek. It is a really nerve wracking thing.
They are nice dogs and VERY cute but be prepared to have a busy dog with alot of attitude in a tiny body.

I would be checking for food aggression and social skills with other people and animals. Look up breed specific info online and see if that's what you really want.

Nice little dogs, but very delicate. They need to be treated gently so as long as you have no young children you will be fine.
