I knew that rythym was/is a style... I just didn't know how to phrase the alternative, which is "Lead guitar" (yeah... it was simple I kno...) So above, "Electric Guitar" means "Lead Guitar", and discount the acoustic (if you want)...

Thanks again! :)

If you want easy electric rhythm is best. However if you really want to learn to play the guitar (of any kind) it is best to start with an acoustic guitar because it is a bit harder to play. I myself started 10 years ago on an acoustic for that reason. I listen to metal but decided that I wanted to be able to play everything. By starting with an acoustic you have a greater chance of succeeding because you will know if you are good or not. Once you can play on an acoustic it will be very very easy to switch to an electric guitar. This will also give you the option down the line to pick up something like a 12 string acoustic or a 7 string electric. The bass guitar is a completely different instrument all together and I do not play it so for me to give you advise on it would not be fair to you. Whatever you decide to start with it is not going to be easy and dont be surprised if you cant play any of your fav. songs for some time. Dont give up, play until your fingers bleed (it sounds harsh but you need to build up the callus) and just enjoy it music is an art.

Kind of a confused question, since rhythm guitar and bass can both be electric or acoustic. As far as mechanics, a bass has a more stretched out neck and fatter strings, an acoustic bass has no frets/fret markers and requires good ears/reach/hand strength. Electric guitars tend to have lighter gauge strings with lower string clearance, so they tend to be easier to play than acoustics. In order of physical difficulty (starting with the easiest):
electric guitar
acoustic guitar
electric bass
acoustic/upright bass
As far as musically, since you don't play chords on bass, guitar would be more difficult if you are playing lots of chords, arpeggios, etc.

Ok as previously mentioned..
Rhythm Guitar is not an instrument, (it can still be electric or accustic) but it is a style..like you have your lead guitarist,he plays all of the solo's and some rhythm and harmony parts through out the song..
And the Rhythm guitarist plays mainly chords..
As far as Electric or Acoustic, just depends on your preferrence..
I play both and I like the sound of electric better.. (to a degree electric seems to be more forgiving,if you don't hit all the strings just right in a chord, it also alows you to have more effects which in return makes you sound like you really know what you are doing when in all reality you don't..
You can easily teach yourself how to play guitar..there are Free Tabson the Net,once you figured it out it is like childs play..sometimes you can even pick up the solo from you favorite artist by just listening to the song and playing along..
It is easy to practice on your own without a band in the beginning....which I believe the bass guitar is alot harder to detect in a song..and if you want to start a band, the bassist is the last one that anyone pays any attention too..that is why there are more singers, guitarists and drummers out there to start a band...so if you are planning to join a band and don't want to just start your own...learn how to play the bass..
Practice makes perfect...like one famous singer once sang:
" Played it (refering to his guitar) till my fingers bled.." and that's commitment!

Rhythm guitar. You can play open chords to most pop/rock music. Very easy.

Bass because you can play a whole song (that is, if you're playing with a band) on two notes. I suggest going for the electric... it can take you so much further!

Sorry, if you're looking to form a band and you want to pick an instrument without studying, you're out of luck. All instruments are hard to play when you start out. The measure of your ultimate proficiency is not which is hardest, but how much effort and persistence you put into each one.

they're all pretty much the same, it depends on how much you want to play them and how much effort you put into it. i've been playing guitar for 30 years and i still learn new things all the time. i found it quite hard in the beggining but it got easier as i went along. the key is practice, practice, practice.

Bass guitar....because no one REALLY cares about bass guitarists....they are too busy watching a quality lead player.....so therefore, you can play what you like, when you like, and no one is actually bothering to listen to you, so nobody will notice stupid mistakes.
