I recently trying to play a movie on my computer and When i told my media player to play the movie it failed to recognise i had my anything in the drive.

I tried to use my VLC media player and my DIVX player. I have been using the VLC media player for a while (and it has never given me a problem), but i just recently downloaded the free version of the DIVX player. The VLC media player tells me Unable to open 'dvd://E:'

I have tried different movies and cds to see if any of them work, but no luck. And occasionally the dvd starts to play but freezes up.

Thank you so much.

Sounds like the drive is bad. Optical drives (CD, DVD) for computers are hit-and-miss as far as quality and reliability, even from the major brands.

what are the D or E disk Drives... are they individual HDD or a single HDD with 2 partition?? have you ever tried Disk supervisor to work out if the drives are nevertheless there??,(below administration Panel, Administrative approaches, pc administration)... it must be that it has lost their force project, wherein case you basically could assign each and each force or partition a force letter

I think you need to put the file in 'c' drive to play it.
