I'm interested in becoming a flight attendant and I was wondering if anyone knows what would look good? (certifications, etc) I'm aware that they have schools for it, but what else would be beneficial?

Knowledge of a second language would put you heads and shoulders above other candidates for the position.

A strong customer service background, outgoing but not outlandish personality, and a polished look also go a long way. The expectation nowadays is for flight attendants to portray a professional and businesslike image, so a tailored and professional look is key, along with a professional demeanor.

Somewhat helpful is a knowledge of geography and airline industry jargon, although these are not requirements as they can be easily taught in training.

As previously mentioned, do not place much stock in attending a travel school. Most of them are actually a complete waste of money and time.

Make sure you know what you're getting into- the flight attendant job is not a glamourous one these days. Until you have about 30-40 years of seniority, expect very low pay and a grueling and somewhat unexciting schedule. (Plan on primarily going to Kalamazoo, Peoria, Durango, Bangor, etc instead of Paris, London, Rome, or Rio for awhile...)

Charms is100% correct! No school! Airlines like jobs like techers, police, nurses and restaurant employees such as bartenders and servers. Do NOT got to school!
