i put mine on a schedule.. no joke. first thing in the morning outside. no running around in the house but straight out the door and had to stay out til they did their "buisness". then i would feed them at certian times and as soon as they stopped eating they went back out until they were done again. it takes patience with little dogs. i would give no food or water after 8 pm if we were going to bed by ten and they went out before bed until all was done again.
i always say lets go out when i take them out.
if yours is used to using the house they may try to wait you out, wait til back inside to go. dont let them. make them stay out. walk around with him he will eventually go. i have 3. all well trained. i say lets go out and all 3 run to the back door.
i breed chihuahuas and the lady that bought one asked the same question. i told her what i told you.. she bought her at 6 weeks and at 3 mnths now she has only had 2 accidents. good luck. habits are hard to break!!
never yell at them or hit them. if they have an accident stick their nose at it and tell them no or use whatever corrective word you've been using. hitting just makes them fear you which makes it harder to learn. always take them straight out after an accident. you may have caught them in the middle and if you take them out they can finish. its correcting the behavior.
we got an alaskan malamute puppy last week, he is 9 weeks old and a great dane puppy last night, 4 weeks old. we had two accidents with the mal due to laziness :-) and none with the dane. i always take them out to the same area of the yard away from the door and steps so they dont get in the habit of doing their "buisness" right where we walk.

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://bitly.im/aL2yz
A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.

Take some doggy treats outside with you or when you get back inside. when he or she uses the restroom reward and praise her and give her a doggy treat. That helped my dog with potty training. now whenever she needs to use the restroom she'll go to the door.

This might be hard depending on how long your pet has gone untrained. If you put her in a kennel for about 2 weeks, only letting her out to use the bathroom twice a day and to play with her for about 30 minutes max, your dog will learn to use the bathroom on a schedule. she will only need to go at a certain time. I did this with my pup and it worked. i take her out in the morning and again when i get home. through the day, she doesn't go in my house.

Preemptive strike..lol After your dog eats/drinks, wakes up from sleeping, plays around etc and about every 2 hours take the dog outside and hang around saying "go for a pee, go for a poo" when the dog does go, praise her excessively and give her a small treat. Do this every day, and before you go to take the dog out start asking.. Want out for a pee, poo? (I know it sounds stupid) and the dog should start to learn that means you are asking if she needs to go to the bathroom and she will start to respond accordingly.. if she has to go she will get excited and go to the door, if she doesnt she will lay down or stay away from the door. Also use pee pads ONLY when you are leaving the dog alone or going to sleep, and ONLY put them near the door where you take her to go out. If she has to go she should automatically use the pads. Leaving them around all the time will teach her its ok to go in the house whenever but leaving them only when you are not there to take her out will teach her they are "in case of emergency". Keep doing this everyday and she will learn in no time what you want her to do when she has to go.
PS there is absolutely no need to punish your dog for an accident... in any way. If you rub the dogs nose in it or hit them etc they will only learn to hide their messes from you. When your dog goes inside the house just say NO! bad girl, you should go out for a pee poo, etc and scold her in a disappointed voice. (no need to yell just use a disapproving voice) make her sit right near her mess and scold her in a low voice while you clean up the mess, if she tries to slink away make her sit and wait until you are done. Then take her outside and stay out for a while, repeating the "bathroom words" once in a while while playing and getting her to run around(this speeds up the urge) until she goes, then praise her and reward her.

don't just send the dog out and expect it to happen. go out with your dog each and every time until it happens then praise. Exercise is the best way to get the job done.

when your dog does it inside, piont at the mess and say no,firmly a few times.then put it in its crate, given you have one, dogs don't have an extreamly long memory, so you have to do it right away, so you won't confuse him. also, don't leave him in his crate to long for the same reason. maybe like five minutes then take him outside and walk him around. when he does it, praise him and maybe give him a treat.

You have to wait until they actually you-know-what in the house. Then show them it shout "NO!" and take them outside. Eventually they will learn.
