I am doing a research paper for a class. I have to get peoples opinions of what they think addiction is. Not the dictionary terms but their personal opinions. It does not matter which type of addiction. Please help. Thanks

What I believe drug addiction is. I believe psychological addiction could develop out of habits that relieve symptoms of loneliness or fear of the unknown. This drug use seems to help mask the problems one is facing. Then a cycle might begin that has the drug user, using for many years. Also, when you use drugs it becomes associated with the release of pleasure-inducing endorphins, this in it’s own way reinforces the addiction because of the false sense of well being one receives. I hope this helps Jessica B.

In my opinion, addiction is the state when someone is having a struggle inside him/herself, where he/she is fanatic about something and keeps doing it, although its known to be wrong or unnatural behaviour, i.e:a guy knows that drugs are BAD, but he tried it once, now he is addicted, in every time he /she isn't in a need for the adicting thing, he/she will start to think to put an end for the addiction, but when he/she needs it badly he/she loses his mind and continues this unnatural behaviour. Ok addiction is a habit forming thing. Its what people think they need to thrive on. Or what they need in there body to make them feel good. Addiction can be numerous things not just what people need for there body but also for there entertainment in there lifestyle. In the subconscience mind the brain thinks its also what it needs so it makes you feel the need for it. hope this helped.

I think addiction is in your mind. It is something you have done continuously and repetitively and you can't stop doing it, no matter how hard you try. BUT if you set your mind to stop your addiction and you realize why you want to stop and why it is bad for you I believe you can stop it.

Addiction is when someone can't control themselves or what their doing. Because their body craves something that gives them some sort of high. Or their mental craving.

I think an addiction is something that a person uses to avoid their pain. It could be drugs, porn, food,or gambling, but they can all be used to distract yourself from real life and the pain in it.
