Haven't you watched March of the Penquins??? I suggest you do!!! They keep it warm by balancing it on their feet. First the males, while the females are catching fish in the Ocean far away. When the females come back they quickly transfer the egg, but if they don't transfer it quick enough it freezes and dies. The males then go where the females were and eat, while the female is hatching the egg and goes back and finds the female and chick byy vocals.

Yes, they balance the egg on their feet, no nest is built. Also wanted to mention that not all birds build their nests in trees, LOTS of birds build their nests on the ground.

They don't "nest" per se. After the female lays her egg (there's usually only one), she passes it on to the male who keeps it warm by balancing it on his feet under a flap of heavy warm "fat" on the front of his body. Then the female goes off for several weeks to eat and fatten up before returning to the male and her baby.
