I will be getting my BA in the summer and want to get my masters in another school.

I just do not know for how many years a person is eligible to recieve the grant ? I have been getting the grant for 5 years.

Does being independent or dependent affect the help recieved?

Does any one know of any special grants for students going for an educational counsling Masters degree?

Can I assume that "the grant" you're talking about is the Pell Grant? If so, you should know that Pell Grants are only for student who are pursuing their first undergraduate degree. Pell Grants are available to independent undergraduates and dependent undergraduates (both must have very high financial need). However, grants like Pell, SEOG, ACG, and SMART are never offered to Master's students (regardless of their dependency status or need). In fact, the federal government doesn't really offer educational grants to graduate students at all...

There are private companies out there who offer scholarships for graduate study (or who don't restrict their scholarship support to any particular degree program). I would recommend searching online scholarship databases for scholarships ASAP:

being independant gets you more money, if your planning on going ot a different school you are going to have to inform them of you wanting to switch schools, and while doing so maybe you could talk to them about how lond one is eligible. im not sure but i think that funding is available throughout your enire schooling, as long as you are atleast a part-time student, but you should still probably ask to be sure.

You'll get more money if you declare yourself as independent.
