I read that the end of the calender happens every 400 years, and that we are just going to have some energy comming through earth that is going to change the world a bit....so does this mean we die...or we just change?

This is interesting and I am have heard a bit about the Mayan Calandar which actually began in 3114 BC. I have also heard of one of their Mayan cheifs being asked by a journalist, "what happens when the calandar ends?" ... and the cheifs very serious reply was, "Boom."

What I find more interesting is how this parallels with Christianity and the book of revelations. Most Christian theologins believe (even Billy Graham) that the book of Revelations and the book of Daniels prophecy, amongst other bible prophecy rapidly moving to the battle of Armageddon and the return of Christ... Billy Graham beleives solidly it will happen in our lifetime. Why? One of the reasons is that the bible states when Israel becomes a nation, that generation will not die, before all of these things come to pass. These things: bible prophecy about the end times. And... this generation... a generation in the old testament is 3 score and ten, or 20 + 20+ 20+ 10 = 70 years. So once Israel became a nation in May 1948, the generation of people born at that time will not all be dead, and will live to see the return of Christ the Messiah and the battle of Armageddon.

It is interesting that the Mayan calandar goes "Boom" at its end and that generation we talk of will be approx the age of 60 at 2008... this allows 10 more years to play with until Christs return. Now it is also important to know the bible declares not a single man will know the exact day or hour this happens although it clearly states that the followers of Christ will be very aware of the signs of the time. Christians do know the signs/birth pangs are here. Non Christians even have an inkling that we are living in a time of earths history like no other and even many feel we are on the verge of self destruction. More to come.

Whatever you read was wrong. The mayan long count was a period of 25, 900+ years.

Not the end of the world - the end of an era. The Sun will line up with what the Mayans referred to as the Dark Region - a space in our galaxy that is devoid of stars. This was beleived to be the entrance to their underworld.

Also, note that the 11 year sunspot cycle will be at its MAXIMUM on December 22, 2012 - the date the calendar ends. This might cause some serious power issues and satelittles to malfunction.
