Ive been using Deoderant in the Gel form since i was 16(I'm 25 now). I got a rash when i was 16 from using the Spray type, so since then Ive used Gel and never had a problem. last week Im at the $1 store and see some Gel deoderant, so i buy it to save a couple of bucks. well now my rash has returned. i cant go to a dermatologist to prescribe some cream because i dont have health insurance. any suggestions on what to do to get rid of this rash?

I have had this problem myself. You're probably allergic to some ingredient in both deoderants. I used liquid Benedryl, in combination with extra strength Benedryl cream for mine. It might help you too. I hope so. I know just how annoying those itchy rashes can be!

See if they have some cortaide cream or a cream that says it is hydrocortisone like it at the dollar store. If they do not, then go to the drugstore and buy it there. Clean your pits with soap and water and apply to the affected areas. This will help, but you really shouldn't use deodorant again until it clears up. Being you have had the problem before, you probably already know this. Sometimes it doesn't pay to fix something that isn't broken. I would stay with the brand that I know that will not do that.

You do not want to put antibiotic oinment or cream on it. You want hydrocortisone cream. This will help the inflammation and is recommended for allergic reactions. You can also take diphenhydramine, which is generic Benadrl and is cheaper than the name brand. Since it makes some people sleepy take one to two of them at night to help the reaction.

The moral of the story as you well know is that it isn't always in your favor to try & save a few bucks. I had the same experience with Arrid Extra Dry spray deodorant. The rash & itching drove me crazy. I didn't put anything on my rash, like creams or lotions. I washed under my arms daily, & didn't use deodorant for a few days, & the rash disappeared. I decided to use Secret deodorant spray (powder fresh) & it worked like a charm. If your rash doesn't get better, I know the Dollar stores carry Neosporin & it's a lot cheaper than what you'd pay elsewhere. Good luck!!!

aSounds like an allergic reaction.. Take benadryl tablets and/or use cream (any anti itch/antibiotic cream) then try a different brand. I have skin allergies and have to switch brands of soap etc often so I know how annoying it can be...sometimes even a brand you have used forever will give you a rash..switch brands for awhile then try the old one again.
Good luck

Gold Bond cream should get rid of it or even the Gold Bond powder. From now on...don't skimp on your deodorant. Let this be a lesson well learned.

It could be Fox-Fordyce which there is no cure for. I been experiencing the same thing. You could try to clean it with some alcohol. That will minimize the bumps. Here are a few sites to help you with your problem.
