No. There were charges to level against them.

Priests who were caught by their bishops were generally removed from public clergy and placed in counseling, at the local level of administration with rare elevation.

He is most likely afraid of being sued or accused of slander.

Keep in mind: It is not only priests that are pedophiles. Peds go into professions that give them access to children: teaching, counseling, medicine, law enforcement, recreation, babysitting, 'step-parenting', etc.

I agree. The Diocese turns their back on the ones they are supposed to protect from this kind of stuff.
