You have red in your hair still because you did not leave it in for the alotted time. When you lighten your hair it goes in stages. So the longer you leave it, the lighter it will become. Depending on your natural color it may take more than one application if it is something you purchased in the store.

If you go to a salon your hair dresser would use an appropriate developer to lift the right amount of color to make it lighter than red.

If you have dark hair, I wouldn't recommend over the counter lightening kits because you would have to use several applications to lift it to the appropriate shade. Red or orange is probably the lightest you will get it with one application unless your natural color is already light. Then you run the risk of damaging your hair from too many applications. Go to a licensed professional. When it comes to lightening the hair, there are so many things that can go wrong.

Red is very hard to get out. Put on an ash blonde colour (ash will remove the red), and then leave it a couple of weeks, during which use intensive conditioning masks 2x weekly. Then if all the red has not been removed, repeat the process until it has (shouldn't take more than twice). Then put on the colour you want. Try not to heat-treat during this time. Good luck!!

this has happened to me b4 also,
I went to the hairdressers for advice, and they said :
The only way to get rid of blonde is to put a red colour on your hair and vice versa.!! so i tried this and guess what...
They were right, i got back to my blonde in no time. You should have left it on the stated time, then u would have been ok
( i am red again now though, lol, i cant make my mind up)

I just asked the wife who is a hairdresser and runs her own salon. She said it would be impossible to give advice without physically seeing the state your hair is in. You need to visit a professional hairdresser. Worse case scenario - your hair could drop out!

i wouldn`t recomend you do this alone. it may be expensive going to a hair dresser but it`s your best bet in the long run. your hair is your crown and glory, it deserves the best care.
