If he's had a couple in a row, that's normal. What happens is when the nosebleed stops, you get a thin "scab" in there. Sneezing or blowing the nose too hard or picking the nose can open it up. Also, too dry air can make it open too.
Try putting a little Vaseline on a Q-tip and running it lightly inside his nostrils to moisten them. If you have a cool mist vaporizer - use it to moisten the air in the house.
If it's happening once a week or so, and they don't stop easily, he needs to see the doctor - he might have a blood issue, such as a clotting problem or be anemic.

Yes, both my kids and now my grand kids have nose bleeds. The doctors say that it's because of dry air and their capillaries are closer to the surface than most others. So, even a slight bump will make their nose bleed. It's hard to deal with at times, but they do out grow it. It can be scary, but not life threatening, just make sure they get their vitamins so they don't get anemia. Hope things go well.

Same as the others...dry air. A humidifier works great. I start it up about 1/2 hour before my son goes to bed and leave it running on low through the night. Do not guide the mist directly at your child, just let it work throughout the room. Also, is your son taking any meds that could cause it? Recent cold where you were giving him an antihistamine or decongestant? That will dry up the passages also.

If he didn't damage/break his nose when he bumped it hard thenIt is most likely the atmosphere.
If it is really dry it can make your nose bleed. Your blood vessels can break if the lining of your nose gets dried out by really dry air. Try buing a cool mist humidfier and running it when he sleeps.

my girls get nose bleeds as well....it has alot to do with dry air. So if you have your heat running it could cause it. Some things to try...put cans of water on heat vents....before he goes to bed and periodicaly throughout the day you can take a q-tip with mineral oil and stick it in his nose.(I know sounds horrible but that is what my doctor suggested and it does work)

I had a similar situation w/ my daughter. The pediatrician recommended using a humidifier and Vaseline inside her nostrils at night to help with dry weather.
