I'm curious about this. How do you, as a Christian (or any other religious person) feel about asking the "universe" to bring things into existence that you are intending, such as the philosophy behind the current "The Secret" new age phenomenon? Do you view this a pagan, false idolatry or blasmphemous practice? Do you think God and the universe are the same or different, etc, etc.

By the way, I'm not talking about worshiping the universe, I'm talking about asking it for what you want, as in the Secret.

God is not the universe, he created the universe. He was very explicit when he said, "Thou shalt have no other gods before me." Worshiping any portion of nature is paganism. The universe is a part of nature. A part of what God himself created.

I think the Secret is for people who check the little box that says "Spiritual, not religious" or who feel they want to believe in something that suits their own needs, without feeling any sense of responsibility toward a higher power.

It's not in the bible, but I'm sure one of the millions of various metaphors will be able to proclaim this faith Hell-bound.
