If people would actually take the time to read the Quran, i think many of them would respect Islam much more.

Except that it rejects some of the central concepts of Christianity and says that only the parts of the Bible that agree with the Quran are true. Why would we respect that idea?

Reading the Quran might help non Muslims to respect Islam, but on the other hand , many Muslims need to read this book and they themselves willl respect Islam more and stop choosing to be terrorist. And the others who are not a part of these acts , should not continue to DISTANT THEMSELVES by saying the men and women who do so are terrorist. Knowing fully that it was a Muslim who did it , with all believe he/she is pleasing Allah.
It is due to this many are losing their respect for Islam.

I respect Islam. I think it's a peaceful religion. I haven't read the Quran myself, but I heard that it contained the anatomy of something (is that right? It was a while since I read), perfectly mapped out and couldn't have been done so well back in the day when it was written.
Because I don't personally believe in Islam I don't think I'll read the holy book, but I do hold that and all beliefs in high esteem.

We Christians and Jews are a people of law and love. We promote peace and goodwill. We do not promote or brainwash our children into believing in self-death and "virgins waiting" for the self-killers in some kind of "heaven".

It is sad that an extremely high percentage of those who practice Islam participate in murdering (not killing) other people. What is sadder is that these people will all have to stand before the True God (of the Holy Trinity) and answer before Him (His name ain't Allah, folks!) for all of the wrongs that the person has committed against humanity. And Allah won't be there to be the defense attorney, either. These people are lost souls for a lost cause.

The best way for Christians and Jews to deal with them is to pray for these suicidal fanatics to find the True God, and turn their lives around for the Truth, and in death, be delivered to the True Heaven. The Quran has deceived it's followers into doing the devil's work - which is pinning man against man in a war that can not be won. The devil delights in separating man from God, man from man, and the Quran has proven to be a very successful tool to meet his needs.

I'm sure that most of it stems from the fact that Islamic Terrorists are such a prominent aspect of our daily news. I admit it is ignorant and prejudiced to insult the Quran and Islamics, but it is puzzling to many people that a religion that is based on peace and respect of life is the root of these fanatics who are bent on destruction.

Theres a problem here.

As much as people like to think that theyre open minded and all, theyre not.

People are limited and stuck in the cultures and teachings of their own surroundings. Thus they come to ONE of the following conclusions.

1. all religions are man made and are based on nothing but myth
2. my religion is true
3. their religion is not
4. I can explain God in any way I can and that means I make sense, while their explanations dont.

See the problem?

People shud just try to be objective learners and be able to see things with a critical eye, including their own behaviours.

im not sure if its as much as we arent happy with how the islamic people are representing their religion. they attack innocent people and say that god wants that. Im a Christian and i dont dislike the Islamic people or what the Quran says. Its just the way some of the Islamic people represent it.

yes , they would , if anyone read about islam with no bias , he surely will show respect to it!!
Muhammad, the Last Prophet (peace be upon him) came to restore and complete the true religion of God, taught by Jesus and all other prophets before him. So, he did not teach a new religion; he restored the same old religion of unconditional and peaceful obedience to God Almighty, taught by all the prophets, including Abraham, Moses and Jesus (peace be upon them all). And this is Islam.

I took the time to read the Qu'ran, and I was disgusted that anyone could believe such a violent and primitive book. The same holds for the Bible.
