I live in England and would like to obtain oriental fabrics, accessories etc. to use in a small room to give either a Japanese or Chinese feel.

Try domestications.com Their new catalog came out this week, and had a couple of different oriental bedding themed sets, and alot of different accessories! Check on eBay.com too, you can find anything in the world there:) Just search: "Oriental Fabric: and you will have alot to choose from. Do you have "Pier 1 Import" stores in England? You would do well there too:)
Hope this helps & Good Luck!

The first guy is making a point, but he is mistaken. The etiquette of discussing people is to use the word Asian, and it is more common to speak of Asian design. Oriental is a perfectly appropriate word to use when talking about objects so you haven't said anything offensive.

Anyway.

My guess is that you are wanting to know where to shop for Asian inspired items. I am American...so I don't know what stores you have. Maybe just shop online, or use your internet to look for local places that sell stuff like this. You can also look up feng shui consultants and ask them for a consultation. While you are paying for their time, you can ask for help on a shopping trip to find the right kind of items for your room, then let them arrange things according to their expertise. Worth a try.

If you are more interested in doing it yourself, Asian decor is characterized by minimalist design so you want lots of storage with clean lines, and use them to tuck most personal objects away. Neutrals, red, circles, bamboo or light colored wood, etc. You can do these things shopping anywhere. It doesn't have to be an Oriental artifact. Just keep things simple, natural, and uncluttered.

only a own opinion, yet.... i'd say be minimalist and do not use wide quantities of paint, yet truly fixtures in pink/black/gold hues and Asian-themed decorations. Bamboo, fountains, paper lanterns, and reflects of Asian characters would extraordinarily make a contribution to the ambience.

The preferred description is Asian... you want an Asian style room.

Try any of the home decor websites, maybe whatever goes with one of those TV decorating shows.
