My child takes Detrol for an overactive bladder but still gets wet. The urologist says this happens frequently in children but I have never heard of anyone else having this problem. How do I mentally deal with this frustrating issue?

In order to mentally deal with a frustrating issue, one should ask a few questions, such as Can I do anything to remedy the situation? If not, how can I make it less frustrating for my child and me? You may need to use different diapers or different bathroom routines.

You don't say how old the child is, but I am assuming he/she is old enough to be potty trained.

Some children don't pay attention to their own bodies' warning and need their parents to help them learn to plan for bathroom use. Do you control his/her liquid intake? I knew that if I gave my son a juice box, I would have to remind him in 15 minutes that he should visit the bathroom. He eventually learned to do it on his own, but this cut down on accidents in the beginning. I also understood that he was more upset about being wet than I was.
