Some people are ready for a new dog just a few days after they lose their beloved pet..wheras some people feel they can never have another pet after the last one has gone. Only you will know how you feel and if you feel you are ready to give a new dog a home go for it. My dog died of old age too (12 years ago now,) a month after she died I got Einstein (I still have him.) I will always love zizi (the dog I lost) but I wouldn't be without Einstein either. You don't need to stop loving one in order to love another.

I have just lost my 2 dobes within weeks of each other so i share your loss. You will never replace your lost dog but another will fill the gap. Ask yourself are you ready for another dog and will you be at home all day to train and look after it as puppies need a lot of attention. If the answer is yes to these questions then go ahead. If you are notsure about apuppy or if you have to go out to work there are plenty of older dogs that need home taht will also give yu years of love and company.

Along with missing HER, you also miss the company of having a dog. I say go for it. You'll always remember and miss your old dog but having the companionship of another one will make you happier and give another dog a home. It's not like you won't love a new dog too. No harm in it. Go for it and good luck!

it is always a good idea to give a dog a good home but you must not get a dog just to replace another that you lost, the important thing is that you loved your dog and she had a happy life.if you get a new dog you must also love this as much as your old dog.it does seem that you will so make sure that you can put the same effort and commitment with your new dog. good luck

Getting a new dog might help you get over your feelings of loss, but you should only get one if you feel ready. If you do get another one you need to remember that its a new dog with a whole different personality to your old one and it will take time to build up a relationship with it. Good luck and have fun choosing your new dog

I once had the same problem my dog died of cancer and i cried for days. I couldn't eat, sleep or barely even talk. I was so stressed until one day i decided to get a new dog and it really will cheer you up and remember even though your dog is gone he will still, and always be watching over you from above

You have given yourself time to grieve for your dog, so it is reasonable to want to give a home to another one. The fact that you have asked the question makes it sound like you may not be ready for another and that you have doubts. I am a believer that gut instinct will tell you when the time is right - go with these instincts.

Yes i think you should get another dog. It will never replace the one you lost they never do, but you will have a new love for this dog in your heart. They really are your best friend loyal to the end.
