i have been singing for a short time and i watched my school on tape performance that i had to sing it. I was shocked! i couldnt believe thats what i sounded like when to me it sounds so different without hearing it on tape. whats the wrong sound and wahts the right sound

What we hear is partly vibration through the air, but mainly vibration through the skull, so we always hear ourselves differently to how other people hear as, as they hear our voice as just vibrations through the air. This means our voice is always a little lower in our mind then it is in other peoples

Even when I record myself, I sound different, thats because the microphone are not the same like those used for artist, or for the movie.
The microphone have different quality.

What we hear is different because of the resonators in our mouth, throat, and cavities in our skull. When others hear us, its just the the air and the room that resonate our voice.

I hate my voice recorded - I sound like a bloke, it's horrible. I probably don't but I think I sound bad.

yeah my voice seems totally different and manly to me when i hear it recorded...if you wanna know how it really sounds plug both your ears with your fingers and talk.
