I have two kittens, a boy and a girl who are siblings. They get along well. The boy is more affectionate than the girl, who is a little bit aloof. If i got another kitten, would it get along with my other 2? I would rather get another boy kitten since i like their personalities better, but would it be a problem to have two male cats in the same house (yes they are fixed, and i would get the 3rd one fixed as well.) In general, is it better to have 2 boys and a girl, or 2 girls and a boy?

If they are fixed it really doesn't matter, and sometimes with cats, boys get along better. Two male kittens should be fine together.

Two male cats would be fine. I have 6 neutered male cats and 1 spayed female cat. Males get along better than females with the same sex, as long as they are fixed. As long as you give them time to get use to each other, they should be fine. Make sure you keep them separate when you are not around for a little while, because they may hurt each other if scared. And one more footnote - male cats CAN spray when fixed. Spraying can be either caused by a urinary tract infection (but not as likely, because they will then just squat and pee) or behavioral. Behavioral can be introducing new cats, a new cat outside, or even moving furniture. I have one cat that sprays for behavioral reasons. If they are kittens when introduced, the chances of this is pretty small. Plus, even if adult cats are introduced to a kitten, they will generally not get upset because they can sense it is a baby. I recently got a kitten and he plays with all the cats, including my 18 pounder. They get along fine and the big guys are gentle with him.

Yes, they would get along. When introducing an adult cat to another adult cat, sometimes they never get along and fight all the time. When introducing a kitten to an adult cat, the adult cat will sometimes bully but not hurt the kitten, and they will eventually get along. When introducing two kittens, they generally hiss, hide, or play right away. It does not matter whether you have two boys and a girl or two girls and a boy. I used to have two boys and a girl until one of the male cats was hit by a car exactly a year ago today.

I have had cats my whole life and foster cared kittens. We always had 2 or more males and they get along fine. But I recently just got a kitten and I had 3 other females before her and they all are fine together. You should just slowly introduce them and they should be fine.

I think you should get another male they would enjoy playing. As they get older the female will get moody and want to be left alone. They may not get along with a male or female for the first few days they all have to get used to each other. Male cats are much more loving.
