Agree with the answer you gave but when I think of the underacheiver I think of the drivers that were hot in other cicuts but could not cut it with a NASCAR ride.Frank Kemmel ,ARCA superdriver poor NASCAR showing,Or Jody Ridly, hot shot sportsman driver in the 70's could beat onyone, raced for Junie Donlevy won 1 race and R O Y but faded out. These are my definition of underacheivers.

I don't think you can count guys like Ken Schrader, Kyle Petty & Mark Martin as Underachieving..they have been around 20+ years each and won multiple races. Just to be able to have survived in racing that long and have successes & continued sponsorship is not underachieving.

Now, maybe someone like Jeff Green, who has won a Busch Series title and was expected to do well on the next level, has underacheived in Nextel Cup.

You have to consider Mark martin an underachiever. 20 some years and still no title or real major win (Daytona or Brickyard). But it's not for lack of trying. Every time Mark has a good car, or a good season....someone has been one step ahead. 1990, 1994, 1998, 2002 finished second in points although all were titleworthy seasons....and most seasons would probably result in a title. 33 career wins....0 daytona 500's. He is probably one of the 25 greatest ever, and s without a doubt the best to not win a cup. Perfect example just 4 days ago.

I always had a soft spot for Rick Mast who used to race the #1 Skoal car for Richard Jackson Racing. One of my favourite memories was of Rick exiting pit lane with his car held together by a combination of duct tape, wire and prayer so that the team could complete the season as the only car to be running at the end of every race.

Another was of course the fact that these guys sat on the pole for the very first Brickyard 400. A true gentleman on the track and off.

My favorite nascar drivers are Dale Jr, Tony Stewart, Kevin Harvick and getting to like Joey Logano. My least favorite is kyle Busch, like all other drivers. I did like Montoya when he raced in Indy cars, still making up my mind if I like him in nascar, but sure I will know in time. I think it's 50 50 now for male female fans.

Mike Skinner. A decent driver that can't seem to avoid being sucked into crashes.

Mark Martin is known as a "racer's racer". This basically means that he is willing to race any kind of vehicle in any kind of conditions anywhere in the world.
