then, do you need to run a loop? How far can you go before you need a splice?

I really don't remember the exact length a single or multi-mode fiber can be run before needing a splice. I am sure that youcan find that answer in google under fiber specifications. Or TIA/EIA fiber specs. I do know that it is a very long distance.

Fiber optics between two- way radio is a waste . There are much simpler ways.
