I'm trying to access cmd and regedit through run, however when trying to open these I get the prompt: "Another program is currently using this file", (I have tried opening this after start up, and after a few minutes of turning on my PC) any ideas why access to theses areas have been restricted? I am the administrator for this PC so how can I stop processes to these files. Could this be a virus stopping me from access?
Thanks

I'v found a file from limewire with the same logo as a windowsmovie player logo, however it turns out to be a application, called setup, I have run this a number of times, (not knowing it has been an application) norton has been deleted and I am experiancing eratic behavior from my PC, how can I remove the virus? It is likely it will be in more than 1 place by now, (has been on my PC for 2weeks)

You have been infected by a trojan some trojans watch the registry and run processes thru the command line making both unavailable...

if you don;t have regedit opened and it;s not in the windows task list you have been infeected

more often that not this is the result of whats called a "root kit"
root kits and hacker exploits that install themselves deep in the OS so deep they are part of windows now and you will need to reformat and reinstall windows....

You can try this though...

1 Connect to network and try to remotely access the registry.
locate and delete the unneeded entruies in the "RUN" key for each user.

if you can connect to the registry remotely you may be able to kill em but more often than not the trojan will reset any changes you make so you;re screwed and its format time....

It's definitely a possibility that a virus is restricting access.

Try accessing them in safe mode.
