I have a hickey on my neck, and I have to say I feel ashamed and disgusted!! It just feels nice while someone is kissing your neck. I am a virgin and plan on staying one...so I just feel really trashy. I know that hickeys are seen as trashy and disgusting....but in your opinion WHY are they seen as so gross and disgusting? Why are they so taboo?? And have YOU ever had one before and if so where and why? I know if people see a hickey they automatically think sex was involved, but you don't have to have sex to recieve a hickey, so why are they considered so nasty besides the fact they are an ugly bruise?! It's because they are ugly burises that everyone knows what they are. And the only way to see a hickey, is if the person is not trying to hide it - usually!
I've had one on my neck as well. And I felt the exact same way cause I was in the exact same predicament as you. I had to hide it though. Unfortunately it was in Summer, so I had to go and buy a few turtle-neck sleeveless shirts to make myself feel a little less trashy.
Once you get married, it'll be better.
But until then, sorry you have to go through this. Tell your BF not to suck on your neck when he is kissing it. Just to kiss it so it won't leave nasty bruises!

Well I had some fun with this boy one night and I got a hickey too, but I'm a virgin as well :)
Mine was on my neck and whenever I looked at it I just remembered the wonderful time I had! haha I dont think they are gross but other people do probably because they've never expirienced getting one you know?
So yea mine was on my neck but I used coverup to try and hide it but it didn't work too well haha

OK.. well kissing on the neck is different than sucking on the neck. Sucking is what makes the blood come to the surface and cause the bruise effect. Staying a virgin is a good idea and I commend you for that. Give your boyfriend a lollipop!!

I don't think they are trashy and I don't think of sex when I see one. I usually think of 2 young people that are fooling around. A Hickey is almost like a "this is my property" type of thing.

They are nasty because they make you look cheap and trashy.
It is a display of " I got laid" in most people's eyes and people find it gross to see. It is not appealing to the eye to see it!
the best way to get rid of it is to apply some tooth paste to it and get a comb and comb it with the tooth paste and it will go away quicker.

They seem so gross because it automatically means that you've had someone slobbering on your neck and is instantly connected to sex. It seems so gross and disgusting because it feels that way. I've had one once and i felt so nasty.
