How can i take files from a home-made dvd and convert them to media files?

Tried windows media player and movie maker but not had any luck, i can't even find the clips/files on the dvd in explorer?

use nero.

if you have edited it on 'windows movie maker' then you might need to save the file as a movie. i normali go to files then Save movie file and follow the instructions!
