I never try to convert anyone to anything -

The Christians on the other hand call my gods evil without knowing a thing about them and insist I go to church to cast out the demons -

My first thought was to hit them over the head and say shut up jerk but

Why exactly is it that Christians have no respect for anyone else and how do you shut them up once they are on a role .

Now I counter by talking about my goddess as if she is in the room - This seems to scare them but it doesn't help them with thier preocupation and I feel bad for doing it even though I am just copying thier own behaviour in hopes they will catch on to how opressive they are - but they don't

Not really my point I wasn't looking for permision - I would just like them to show the respect for others that they would insist upon having for themselves - So far nadda

WendyD199...

I think thats nice - I will respect that even though I am a little diferent - And since I won't turn it into a compitition maybe you or someone like you will sit and have a coffee with me and we might learn somthing from each other -

Now if I go on for an hour about how mine is better - it will be a quick coffee and no one will learn anything

If you want to do something, who cares what other people think? If you want to worship this and that, it seems the atheists will attack. But if you don't want to worship anything, there comes the Christians...
Tell them you can't be interrupted because you're readying the cat for sacrifice to the Sun God.

If you really want an answer, here it is. Our answer is Biblical. We are told to do this. Any Christian who truely wants to do the will of God will talk to you.
Mt 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Mt 28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.
I don't like the word "convince", it just doesn't fit the need. "Understand" is a better word, we are taught to teach the world, to help you to "understand". Many of the religions today that Christians are teaching against are just as old as Christianity itself, our Bible talks about some specifically. We as Christians cannot stop you from doing anything you want to do, but if we do not speak to you about salvation, we have to answer for it when judgement comes. As well on that time, you will not be able to say that no one told you. Jesus says that no one can come to the Father except by Me (Jesus himself). By believing on Him and nothing else.
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but BY ME.

No other religion or belief will get you to Heaven.
Acts 4:12 Neither is there SALVATION in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

I do not intend to be just a ranting Christian, but this the answer to the question you asked.

I think that one way to begin to understand Christians is first to stop lumping them all into the same bin. There are many, many, Christians who do not fit into the stereotype that you just built here, and the comment about Christians (the implication is all of them) having no respect for anyone else is a disrespectful statement towards those that do. I do not think that your common denominator is ALL Christians. I think it is the "Christians YOU know", and that is NOT all of them.
To answer your question regarding why a Christian would try to stop you from worshipping whatever you want, I guess that any motive for an individual is just that..individual. If you are asking if ALL Christians would try to stop you the answer is most probably don't care what you do. There are a few, however, who in their zeal to promote the truth that they know, miss the mark when it comes to winning friends and influencing people. They are either misguided in their attempts to CARE about you, or they are abusing Christianity in an effort to assuage their own egos, or they are just plain ignorant. All of these are possible..but the best way to find out for sure...is to ASK them.

Well all sorts of people are stupid and ignorant and feel the need to bash others' to no end. But please don't categorize these people as Christians, because for every Christian you find that acts like that, I'm sure I can find a Christian that's not like that. It's just like racism, you can't say all asians are this or all black people do that...

Having said that, the reason they try to stop you should be obvious, they think you're wrong and they believe they're right, and if they were right then that implies you are going to hell, and nobody wants that. So just because you never try to convert anyone doesn't mean they don't want to convince you of their beliefs. If they bash you over the head with it, shame on them, but if they enter an intelligent conversation about it, then you'd be closeminded not to listen, just as they would be closeminded not to listen to you.

It's not just Christians... it's all religions. No matter what religion anyone is, EVERYONE thinks they're right. Next time this happens to you, just respectfully tell the person that you are not interested in changing your path, but if and when you ARE ready, you will give them a call. And if they still persist, remind them that you have the right to NOT be harassed and you won't put up with it anymore. Once people hear the word "harass" they tend to leave it alone.

I know how you feel. I have had a guy stop talking to me because he didn't like what I believed in. Before he stopped talking to me I asked him 'Do you have any idea what it is I actually believe in?' And his reply was 'No, but you can't believe in a God and Goddess , that is just wrong.' Then left. Some argument right?

I wouldn't. In fact I wish to learn more about her and other loved gods&goddesses but sadly I am held back by a few of my fellow Christians.

for one they believe that their god is the one and only god...
I think they also might feel like if they do not stay in others business and let others live their own life then maybe they wont get to heaven??

But when someone starts in on me about.. well here is a sample of a convo...

christian: Have you found Jesus?
Me: nope, didnt know he was lost!

Christian: you need to find christ.
Me:why do I have to find him? i wasnt the one who lost him. remind me not to let you watch any kids I know.

Christian: you need to allow jc into your heart!
Me: why I don't want to be responsible for him drowning in my blood.

Christian: But he loves you!
Me; yea he might but I am gay and I don't do well with long distance relationships.

Christian: you will go to hell for being a homosexual!
Me: does god love men and women?
Christian: yes he loves everyone!
Me: I hate to inform you but your god is bisexual.

Christian: but jesus performed all these miracle, he walked on water, feed thousands with a single loaf of bread, healed the blind, etc...
Me: Your Jesus was a witch.....

That usually shuts them up for me...
