If you don't trust them, it's a foolish kind of love and will end up disappointing you.

You can have a love for someone without trusting them.
Unless you are talking boyfriend/girlfriend
Just having a love for someone doesn't mean that you have to involve them in your life in a way that causes you to have to deal with their issues of trustworthiness. It is more like a compassion type love where you wish the best for them like that they find the way to live life right and grow away from the errors of their ways.

Yes, you can.

There are many different kinds of love. You love your spouse differently than you love your children. You love your neighbor when you willingly feed his dog for two weeks when he's out of town and don't ask for any pay (assuming you're not doing it so that he will owe you a favor!). You love a stranger when you risk your life to get him out of his wrecked car before it explodes.

"God commended (proved) His love for us in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." That is selfless love that seeks another's benefit.

Then there is a brotherly love, which is a two-way love.

You can love someone w/o trusting them by doing something in their best interest, at your expense, but not allowing them access to your house, checkbook, etc.

You could love a homeless person by helping them find housing (and paying for it), helping them find a job, do laundry, style their hair (to get/keep a job), find child care, and help them develop the skills, attitudes, and habits that will help them be successful in their jobs. You don't have to let them stay in your spare room and drive your car!

You could love an enemy soldier by giving them decent living quarters and food, but you would still keep them in a POW camp until the end of the war. It would be foolish to let them go based on their word that they will not rejoin the war against you!

You don't have to love everyone, but at least like them. So that rules out prejudice and stereotypes. And liking someone doesn't mean you have to hang around them and trust them. It simply means you have to respect them for being human, in the very least.

Yes. For example you may love your sister but are unable to trust her because every time you tell her something she blabs it all throughout the family. You love her but just decide not to tell her anything.

Trust comes from relationship, and it usually has to come first before people feel free to love.

I would have to say no, if there is no trust there is no love you would never get past the trusting part of your relationship.
