Some where in this time frame a number of paratroopers lost their lives when a training accident happened. A number of the shoots failed to open. I am researching information for genealogy.

You'll need to have at least one name. You can write for military service records (including a copy of the incident report) to the NARA Military Service unit in St. Louis MO. Also, you can try getting information from the chaplain's office on the base. I doubt you'll find much in local newspapers, but once you pinpoint the time frame, you can sign up with a military reunion site to find other men who were assigned to the base at that time and who can fill in more information.

I knew of only one man. His name was Tommy House. He ended up having a metal plate put into his head. He is/was? from Sangamon County, Illinois.
