The debt is approx. 5 years old and has left some very negative remarks on my credit report.
Problem is ...I have been paying the lawyers office and the debt is nearly gone. I would like the negative comments and the words "missed payments" removed. The credit bureau has not kept up with the debt and is misinformed.
I tried to contact Capital One because I believe they don't realize the debt has been turned over and an agreement has been made.
I told the lawyers office of the problem. They said Capital One is the problem. They said they cannot remove anything negative that a creditor has put on my report. The comments look a helluva lot worst than the actual debt is and needless to say everytime I see it... I get very upset and feel like Capital One is trying to sabotage me by keeping it there.
HELP...HELP...HELP...

Write to the credit reporting bureaus and explain the situation. And, finish paying it down as quickly as possible.

Capital one and/or the credit bureau are the only ones that can fix their comments on your record. Contact the bureau and advise them you wish to dispute the information and they will start you on the progress.

IMHO, you probably won't go anywhere with this; a 5 year old debt that is now with a lawyer is what it is, and an "agreement" won't change the conditions that led it there.
