Beringer Founders Estate Merlot is a very good red wine for the price. Usually runs about $10-$12 for a 750ml (which is cheap for a good wine) but its a fantastic wine. Enjoy! Hope this helps, let me know if you pick up a bottle and how you like it. Its has subtle fruit notes and its not too bitter but goes very well with steak or any beef dish.

If you really enjoy red wine, you need to try Australian, I find they are getting better, right now they are my favourite. You can get really inexpensive ones all the way up to over $100. The $10 to $20 range are really good.

Ahhh, I love these questions! Some varietals that I enjoy:

Sangiovese
Montepulciano
Shiraz-Grenache-especially Yellow tail

But the Montepulciano has to be my favorite! A great italian wine!

My all-time favorite red was 1986 Chateau Gruaud Larose. I wish i had some more of it. My favorite red to drink regularly would be any good pinot noir from Oregon.
