Okay, so I was wondering, is it true if you have a tattoo on your lower back then it's a tramp stamp?
Because I have one and I'm still a virgin, and people still call me a tramp because of it.
It's a beautiful tattoo and it's of a cross, not too big and not too small. How can a tattoo of a cross be a tramp stamp?
And...isn't it only supposed to be a tramp stamp if the person who has the tattoo is a tramp?
Thanks for the answers.

Why do you care what other people think of your tattoo. If you like it that's all that matters. Tramp stamp is just street lingo. If it doesn't apply to you, tell them to butt out & move on.

I don't consider a woman a tramp just because she has a tattoo like this. However, my "personal opinion" of a womans attractiveness and beauty go WAY down when I see one on her. That statement goes for not only the traditional "tramp stamp" as it's called, but any beauty defiling tattoo. At this point in time (2007), what statement of individuality is made by getting a tattoo when so many people are getting them? And although I'm not the greatest looking guy on earth, I have no delusions that a tattoo will make me more attractive to the opposite sex.
Just for the record, I am 42, male, and have no tattoos on myself.

No, it's not a tramp stamp. I have one, I am married, not a tramp. The only people to ever see it are hubby and me and of course I showed a few friends. That term will always be controversial because people are ignorant. Your tat sounds pretty sweet and it's nice to know the term bothers others as well.

jYou know what it means when you have a tattoo on your lower back? It means you like tattoos.....and decided to put one there. Unfortunately Hollywood and ignorant people in general have coined the phrase tramp stamp. It has a cutsey little ring to it and it lets all the girls too afraid or repressed to get a tattoo feel good about themselves (instead of feeling jealous of you)....... Ink doesn't make you a tramp ........ The way a person behaves makes them a tramp

That's just the bad stereotype that goes with the tattoo. I don't assume all females who have them are tramps unless the tattoo says so or their behavior does. I think it sucks that someone like you is stuck with such negativity and its good that you just brush it off.
Ignore the crap. I'm thinking about getting a lower back tattoo, but I would want it BIG and colorful. Not sure where to start.

I would rather see a tattoo on the lower back of a pretty girl than some of the shoddy ink you see on big fat guys with beer guts. I don't know where this tramp stamp nonsence got started, but if you are happy with your tattoo, then don't worry about what other people might think. A well done tattoo is a thing of beauty, no matter where on your body it might be.

I love the tatto i have there, it was a custom design and i could care less what others think of it. I dont think i have had anyone come up to me and call it a tramp stamp but hey if they want to make assumptions go ahead and let them. You know the true you and thats all that matters.

It is a nickname for a tattoo in that region.
It is a bit of a stereotype because many women who have tattoos there are tramps.
Having a tattoo there does not make you a tramp.

& you shouldn't care what people say about lower back tattoos.
"tramp stamp" Blair hates that word.
It's just a stupid stereotype. I wouldn't pay attention to it.
I'm getting one, but its going to be more towards the side of my back.
I agree with Zombie, big and colorful, are definitely better.
