It tastes like squirrel! Tell me what salt tastes like? Then I can answer your question.
In reality it is quite delicious. I threw in my recipe for the best ever, plus they fry up real nice.

Squirrel Stew
2 squirrels, cleaned, cut into 6 pieces each
2 c broth (chicken or beef)
leafy tops of 2 stalks of celery
1/8 lb salt pork, 1/2" cubes
2 c fresh lima beans (or frozen)
2 tbs. flour
2 lg ripe tomatoes, peeled, and seeded
1 tsp. salt
1 c fresh corn kernels (or frozen)
1/4 tsp. pepper (more is better)
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
2 lg onions, thinly sliced
1-2 tbs. flour

Fry salt pork until very crisp, then remove pieces from the pan. Dredge squirrel (par-boil if a red or an old squirrel) in seasoned flour and sauté in hot fat until brown on all sides. When nearly brown, add onions and cook until soft. Place meat in Dutch oven, together with broth and celery tops. Cover and bake at 350 for 1 hour. Remove celery tops, add lima beans, tomatoes, corn and Worcestershire sauce. Cover and bake until vegetables are tender-about 30 min. Skim off excess fat and thicken gravy with flour and 1/2 c cold water. Serve hot topped with crisp pork crackling.

This recipe is for Dutch oven cooking outdoors, but you can use a stock pot if you don't have a Dutch oven with legs and lid rim. I usually make this for my hunting buddies when no one got a deer. Squirrels are really a nuisence when deer hunting, so we get a couple, and pig out. Leave the cracklings out, but make corn bread and add the cracklings to that. Yum---Yum!

certainty: a million. something could be eaten if BBQ'd! Hell! Even undergo Gryllis claims to have eaten a skunk (Mexican episode). 2. there is not any longer distinctive meat on the squirrel 3. prepare dinner the critter thouroughly to kill all parasites. be sure you wash your hands when you touch the squirrel. 4. style "a thank you to prepare dinner squirrel" in google 5. until eventually you're broke and can't arise with the money for nutrients, there are greater advantageous issues to consume like pork. 6. If squirrel became extremely sturdy or unique, eating places and in demand chefs might prepare dinner it and that they do no longer. the certainty is that in the time of hassle-free terms people who're in survival situations consume it or rednecks. Are you a redneck?

Hi,
It actually tastes a little like rabbit, the meat is very lean and low in Cholesteral, as It is a mainly Veggie, the meat is not tough , if cooked properly, They do eat eggs, and supposed to consume hatchlings, due to the size, two squirrels would feed an adult, and they are great BBQ'd,
Try everything once!
Good luck

It tastes like squirrel. Breaded and fried (like chicken) and served with mashed potatoes and brown gravy and you have a gourmet meal. It is delicious.

Given the nature of the animal, I'd say it would be very lean but tough, like steak, but might taste more like poultry.
