I took my 8 month old to the ER room last thur the Dr said that she had bronchitis. she had a temp of 104. He gave her some meds (forgot name of meds) and said for her to go home. when i ask if they were suppose to keep her untill her temp go down he said that they could not treat her unless her temp was 106 and higher. so we took her home. she didn't get any better so we try another ER turn out she don't have bronchitis and the meds that she was taking made her sicker. call back to the first ER to talk to head person she has not call back yet. what should i do? the dr didn't even listen to her chest. help ! i know i sound carzy but i am young and i don't know what to do next. this hurts my feeling

You can file a complaint with the state Medical Board. Also, call the hospital and ask them how to file a complaint....if you don't know the Drs. name, then ask the hospital who was working ER the night you went in. You may have to actually go up there and demand a straight answer if they keep giving you the run-around. No hospital ER would wait until a baby's temp was 106 to treat-that has malpractice all over it!!! He/She probably meant that the temp wasn't high enough to "admit" and keep until the temp went down b/c they needed the bed. But, technically, your child was "treated" it just wasn't very good treatment. Make a formal complaint and never do business with that particular hospital again. Oh, and disregard Heather's comment on getting a lawyer....you'll just pay a huge retainer fee to be told that you don't have a case.

First of all, you DO NOT sound crazy. Sometimes a doctor can give a diagnosis based on the sound of the cough. I cant imagine that any meds for bronchitis would make her sicker. They may not have improved her condition but made it worse?
Hmmm. What was her diagnosis from the second ER? A respiratory virus like RSV or a weird bug going around? Many things can be confused with bronchitis. However. you still have the right to call the first ER and complain although it probably wont do any good. I would consider it a lesson learned and from now on, bring her to ER #2. Good thing you did. Mommy always knows best!!

WOW I WOULD BE SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MAD!!!
Find another ER!! I would complain about the dr, his name will be on the scripts if you still have the bottle, and in her chart if you dont. Yes babies (small children) can run a high fevers but 104 is high! 106 is boiling point. Next time try cool, not cold, washclothes over her whole body.(strip her down first) And you can demand a different dr that is your right!
Good luck and God Bless

thinking my sdd(4) had a persistant cough and the mama did no longer provide her her meds(A 13 twelve months previous is ordinary with of greater advantageous, so i know it is not your fault. A 4 twelve months previous continues to be variety of on the helpless area of their progression) and it became into pneuomonia, i might rather flow in and have them tell me it is not something however the flu, than ignore approximately it and it become something much greater doubtlessly deadly than the flu. My sdd had a low fever as nicely. Robitussin did no longer touch the cough. It became rather dry. positioned your ear to his chest and have him take a pair deep breaths in, then positioned your ear to his decrease back and do an analogous factor. If there is even gentle wheezing, then he rather needs to flow to the two E.D. or to his pediatrician. no longer a rfile, yet we've been basically there at present with my sdd by way of her mama's negligence. you're no longer being negligent. i know that. i'm hoping you do no longer examine that i think of you're. <3

A temp of 106 is dead! Your child got stuck with a doctor who did not want to treat her. get her records from the ER and see a lawyer.

You do need to lodge an official complaint at that first hospital.
You are not crazy- you are entirely within your rights to be mad and angry at that doctor.
Keep on at that hospital and demand an apology.
