No. I was recently reading a blog in the Environmental Economist. According to an author, the oil, located rather unconventionally, can only be produced at a small rate. Therefore, that oil can only compliment reserves and production but will never be very important. Bush would rather go into Alaska then Canada. It is interesting to note that the US does send alot of crude oil into Canada for cheap production and then buys it back as gasoline.
Why would we go after resources in an industrialized country when we can go to the thirldworld where labor and production are low?

That depends on the people who hold power in Washington. If you've been paying attention you have already seen a shift towards this. At the moment they are a little too preoccupied with their wars, but they will get back to it.

I don't think you will see open hostilities. You will see unlikely candidates in Canada winning elections and then voting to give the US what it wants. You will see propaganda against any Canadian lawmaker who isn't on board with what the US wants. Some key people who stand against the US may die in a plane crash or hunting accident.

It all comes down to greed. Some people have it all and still want more. They will be coming to get what they don't have.
