I am an MP. We have many missions. Our motto is Of the troops and for the troops. We have a law and order mission, which is equivalent to the civilian police, we handle traffic control, domestic disputes and things of that nature. There are MP's who do physical security, basically guard secure locations, usually in military intelligence units. In a combat zone, our primary mission is usually in effect, where we do convoy escorts, patrols, PSD and EPW processing and detention. We do more than write speeding tickets, our first and foremost mission is to see that all soldiers are safe. I prefer doing convoy security as we are trained more for the tactical aspect rather than doing roadwork. MP's are usually looked at to be a special brand, we are trained to be tactical units and responsible for the safety of all troops.

they keep the soldiers on base in line. A military base is kinda like a small town, military families, stores etc. They do what the police would do. Their job is to serve and protect.

MP:s are like civilian polices but are doing their job in the military instead. their jobs are: Base security. Aresting and holding criminals. Processing POW:s. And keeping occupied areas safe (from criminals, not enemy soldier) I guess that in us some MP:s are in iraq. Johan

They do the exact thing their civilian brothers do. police. from patrol to detectives, community service to crime prevention, they do it all, only with federal powers.

They try to act like real cops, they even have the same "God complex" real cops have.
