Remember Lewis and Clark, the explorers. Well they carried canned foods with them on their expedition. After that was all over with, some of the unopened canned meat ended up in a Museum. After 100 years, some of the items were sold bu auction. Some of the canned food was sold to a man that took it to a lab and had it tested, although he didnt eat any of the, the lab results were that the food was edible 100 years after it was canned. So what I go by is for survival, If my canned goods are still sealed and the can or jar is still in good condition with no problems and upon opening, the food smells ok, then its still good to eat, no matter how old it is. It would be hard to throw away good looking food of any age if a man is hungry..

If it is unopened you should just go by the expiration date on the can.

Personally I always go by smell. A butcher once told me if meat smells bad its bad. Green color wouldnt be a good sign either. Good Luck.

as quickly as, I observed a baby, daintily %. contained in the direction of the jelly beans on the barren area buffet, tasting one and all, putting the nasty licorice-black ones back into the colourful container, leaving them glistening under the lamps..... merely say no to buffet and that i want steak

It should be OK. Those things are full of preservatives anyhow. Plus it should have a "use by" date on it. Check it out!
