Hi Ped_kia82!
Housetraining a puppy requires time, vigilance, patience and commitment. Following the procedures outlined below, you can minimize house soiling incidents.
Virtually every puppy will have an accident in the house (more likely several). Expect this, it's part of raising a puppy. The more consistent you are in following the basic housetraining procedures, the faster your puppy will learn acceptable behavior. It may take several weeks to housetrain your puppy, and with some of the smaller breeds, it might take longer.
Please look article: Puppy Housetraining Basics - http://www.askedweb.com/askedweb/Puppy_Housetraining_Basics/
And it very important: You have to get rid of the odor. If your the carpet smells it, that tells her that is the place to go.
This is accomplished with an odor neutralizer, which is available in pet stores. (Do not use household cleaners as they contain ammonia and will attract him back to the same spot.) example: ATX's Odor Kill & Stain Remover .
When used properly it will completely eliminate these odors, discerned only by the dog, by neutralizing the scent. When areas previously used by the dog have been neutralized the incentive for using the same spot will be eliminated.
Make a big deal of her doing it right. Let your voice sound all this pride and pleasure in he.

The bell trick that a lot of people on here are mentioning is amazing!! I have potty trained all of my dogs this way and you just can't go wrong!! And you will be surprised how quickly they put the two together!!!
Good luck!!

Actually you need to be trained on how to observe the signals that your pup is giving you for when he needs to go outside

Try a bell. We're training our pup to ring the bell when she has to go out. To get him to learn, make her ring the bell every time you take him out to go to the bathroom. At first, you'll have to pick up his paw and make him ring it. Then he'll learn. Use lots of praise and treats whenever he rings the bell. Soon he'll associate the bell with going out to the bathroom. Just be patient.
Also...accidents do happen :-)

Hang a small bell on the door knob and lightly touch it to your dog whenever he goes out.Say potty everytime you go out and ring the bell . Eventually he will ring the bell himself when he feels the need.

train him when he's at the door that he should sit and speak. that way you'll know he has to go out.
take him to the door, have him sit, and then speak. once he does, let him out.
if not, get a doggie door. they are wonderful things.
hope that helps. i'm still trying to figure out how to get my pup to speak on command.

Just keep rewarding him when he lets you know, he should pick it up completely eventually.
