I think there is a serious emotional attachment that people acquire for their pets. They treat them like they are their own child. Most of the time this happens is when they don't have actual kids of their own. So they reference their animal(s) as their kids and treat them as if they were a human being. They create such an emotional attachment to their animals. I'm not that type to get attached to animals like that but then again I have 2 children of my own.

The longer you have your pet the more they become like child to you! I have a 8 month old great dane and a 2 month old rat terrier and they are the best things in my life besides my husband! The bond between a human and an animal is just like a bond between a human and another human if the human is compassionate about animals! I am a huge animal lover and have also cried every time one of mine has passed!

For me my pets are an extension of my family, they show love and appreciation of being cared for and loved in return. For me I guess it's just a gut reaction to care that much, because I put in allot of effort and care into training and being with my Dog.

I must say that if my cat died that I have had for 14 years I would cry. That cat is one of a kind.

It really is about how you view things, my pets have personalities likes and dislikes, they are "people" in a sense. And I believe that if more people cared about animals the way we care about people we would have less problems with the environment and the endangered species.

Because of medical conditions, my husband and I can not have children. Our dogs are like our babies. They give us that unconditional love like a young child gives its parents. However, a child may get mad at a parent and withhold affection. But your dog (more than a cat) loves you no matter what you do. Dogs have owners--cats have employees!

My prayer each day is that the Lord would let me be just half the person my dog thinks I am.

Once you get your first pet, you'll understand. My cats are like my babies, only without all the problems that children have. Pets will not judge you, a loyal dog will even try to protect you. It's just a bond that owners have with their pets.

One that is not familiar with having and being loved by a pet, could never understand the connection between a pet and his family..Pets give us the unconditional love that we rarely receive from our human friends and family..They don't know how to judge us, or criticize us.
I believe that they are ambassadors that God has sent us to teach us a fraction of His own unconditional love..

The unconditional love given by a pet is something you can't explain with words. It must be experienced. Until you have been loved like that, you can't begin to understand the pain of the loss of that love and companionship.

I dont have cats or dogs but I do have 8 ferrets. Animals are very loving (if you treat them right) and that love is unconditonal. They bring joy into our lives. I really like the quote "animals are not our whole lives, but they make our lives whole" I see my ferrets as part of my family I give them love and give back so much more. If you have never known this love you might not understand.

A pet becomes part of your family, and you begin to love them just like a family member. They also provide companionship and unconditional love. I lost a cat I literally grew up with. She was 9 months old when I was born, and was 21 when she died. I was devastated.
