NO, not by exercising, anyway. That would be impossible. You have to use some calories for walking around, talking, housework, bodily functions like digestion, even during sleep. No matter what you are doing, you are using calories. For example, I eat 1500 calories a day, I exercise 1 hour a day and am losing a steady 3 pounds a week. On a cross trainer machine, I burn 600 calories an hour (The less you weigh the less you burn and I am a plus size woman, so if you are average size like a 10 or 12, you would burn closer to 400.) So do you think it's helthy to do 4 hours a day on the cross trainer? Not likely. I say an hour a day of purposeful exercise is plenty. The last thing you want to do is exhaust yourself

The generally accepted math is that you must burn 3500 more calories than you consume to lose 1 pound. I don't recall there being a time frame on that equation, but it is recommended that you would burn 500 more calories than you consume each day to burn 1 pound a week. However, if you eat 500 more than you consume 1 day and then you burn 1000 more than you consume each of the next 2 days, then its the same thing. So don't sweat it if you go over 1 day here and there.

Yes. On average you burn over 2000 calories doing nothing a day so if you want to lose weight you should eat between 1500 and 1800 calories per day.

I found the book to be very informative and easy to read.
I've lost 17 pounds in 12 days, I'm just concerned that I'm losing too much weight, too quickly. I will admit I haven't followed the guide exactly. I'm not sticking perfectly to the listed foods and meal plans (but mostly) and doing very little exercise, but the weight keeps flying off.
It clearly works and if I'd followed it exactly I think it would scare the living daylights out of me because of the amount that I'd lose. So thanks again for the information. I've never purchased anything like this before because they are usually full of trash, but 3WD has been a pleasant surprise.

Well, not necessarily. To lose weight, you have to burn 3500 calories for a pound.
According to your question if you ate 1500 calories a day, you'd have to burn over 1500 that day, which would be nearly impossible, to lose weight.

yes in order to lose weight you must burn more calories than you are consuming but to stay at a specific weight level you must eat as many calories as you consume.

Contrary to what many diet products will tell you, yes, the only way to lose weight is to burn more calories than you consume.
It is scary that so many do not understand this simple concept.

Yes. Weight Loss is basic math. If you consume fewer calories than your body needs for energy expended, your body will then obtain energy from fat already stored in your body.

it helps.but it is also good to eat more in the morning and afternoon rather than at night because you dont burn as much.i recommend to get in the habit of not eating after 8 so that your body has time to burn the calories.
