You need a regular land line telephone connection and a fax/modem. I believe Windows XP and I know Linux will fax just like a ink-jet printer using whatever word-processing or picture program you have running on your computer. If you have a DSL modem a fax won't work. Otherwise, you can email an attachment to a fax service. The only one I've found is in Australia that does it by the piece. Other services want a monthly charge.
