My husband and I are working on having a child. No ifs, ands, or buts about it, I want to breast feed my child, but I am worried about what will happen with my breasts after I am done breast feeding. I would much prefer them to stay a full size and not "shrivel up." Any tips on how I can keep them "full sized?"

I know it's widly beliebved that bf does this to your breats but it's a MYTH, adn thats all it is. It's actually the pregnancy that does it to your breats bot the BF. B/c your gain weight during your pregnancy and your breats are getting ready to nurrish your child weather your decided to BF or not the still prepare the same way and they get bigger and seems more full. This is why people say that after BF their breats were saggy and not as full feeling. Because after pregnancy you lose the weight and your body try as much as possible to get back to normal and this is where your breats also change form their pregnancy state to their post-preg. state and therefore seems saggy b/c they have lost some of their shape and fullnes. This has nothing to do with BF and it will not change your breats anymore than pregnancy will.

I am an obgyn nurse...13 years experience...and there is NOTHING you can do. If you are young...say 28 and under...you should be fine...but for the most part the mamary glands will swell...and when they deflate and go down...there's no where for the stretched out stuff to go but down! LOL! I have heard tons of old wives tales...but I have yet to have anyone actually prove any of them to me. Honestly, after breastfeeding which I HIGHLY recommend...you won't care if your boobs fall off...because the experience and bonding you'll have with your baby is priceless. The only way to get them to "poof" back up is to have another baby and fill them with milk again. It's really not as severe as some women think...and good bra can do wonders! Take care of them and have a good nursing bra when you are nursing to keep them firm. Ask your obgyn nurse or doctor...sometimes they have catalogs where you can order really nice nursing bras instead of the cheap department store ones.

Good luck!

My breasts are just fine and i breast fed for 5 months. And you lose weight quicker breastfeeding. I was afriad of the same thing. I wore a sports bra to bed everynight. And wore a bra 24/7. My breasts have not dropped or dropped a size or anything. Dont worry about it. They will stay the same.

I think it all depends on genes.
I breastfed for a year then got pregnant again so I haven't seen the damage yet, I am scared!
I have heard though that when you stop feeding your breasts will feel empty but will refill with fat within about 6 months.
