I have Crohns Disease, I have been NPO for over three months. When I begin eating again I will have to start on a clear liquid diet. How long should I expect it to take before I am capable of eating an actual meal?

Well, it depends on a few things like what medications you are on or if you had surgery to remove part of the bowel. If you are at risk for another flare, you may take it very slowly adding foods in that are well tolerated. You are also better off eating smaller more frequent meals and limiting fats and roughage in the beginning. Hoepfully you have been on TPN or on Tubefeedings. I would suggest at least 1-2 months

If you have not ate in a few months I am sure you must be on a G-tube feeding or something in that nature. It just depends, People are different. You should ask your doctor to be sure. I would think it would take some time before you could have a real solid and full meal. Most Doc's start their patient out slow and increase the diet and solids over time.
