I was at an excersise class last night and well i'm aching all over mostly my arms and shoulders tho and one of my calf muscles. I was wanting to do 45 mins on the excersise bike tonight but i'm going for a pilates class tomorrow, i really need the excersise though and over the weekend friday and saturday i'm with my boyfriend all day so no excersising till sunday night. What would you do?

Don't overexert or injure yourself, so what you can, 30 min 3X week is sufficent to maintain health.

If your muscles are sore, they're in the process of repairing themselves. If you strain something that is already strained, you can start doing real damage, and then you won't be doing any exercise at all.

However, if you're simply talking about aerobic exercise, like on the bike, there shouldn't be a problem. If you start getting winded though, you're doing too much, and need to slow down. You should be able to ride and hold a conversation at the same time with very little difficult if you're in the aerobic range.

My advice, if you feel you must, simply do that on the bike for 20-25 minutes, and stretch out first (not to the point of strain, but enough to warm up your muscles.)

Best wishes!

performing a session of light intensity cardio can be used as active recovery which can actually speed recovery by increasing blood flow to the sore muscles which increases the amounts of nutrients for repair.

following a proper diet along with regular exercise is the key to making progress...
