What do you recommend as a solution to the current crisis in malpractice? What about the struggle to recruit physicians to rural locations—what could be a good strategy for this?

POONAM,
THE REASON FOR THE VAST MAJORITY OF MEDICAL LAWSUITS IS ONE OF GREED. THERE ARE CERTAIN CASES WHERE THE ACTUAL PROCEDURE CAUSED DAMAGE OR DEATH, BUT IN THE VAST MAJORITY OF CASES THE PATIENT WAS NOT SATISFIED WITH THE RESULTS. THIS MOST OFTEN IN SEEN IN URBAN AREAS WHERE PEOPLE HAVE MORE "STUFF", AND HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT A MORE COMPLEX WAY OF LIFE THAN RURAL AREAS.
ONE ANSWER TO THIS MALPRACTICE DILEMMA WOULD BE TO SET A NATIONAL CEILING FOR MEDICAL/DENTAL DAMAGES WHERE PEOPLE COULD NOT COLLECT A RIDICULOUS MONETARY AMOUNT FOR THESE DAMAGES.
AS FAR AS PHYSICIANS TO RURAL LOCATIONS, DOCTORS HAVE INVESTED A LARGE SUM OF MONEY INTO THEIR PROFESSION, THEY HAVE TO PAY THE SCHOOLS FOR THIS, AND PLAN FOR A WAY OF LIFE THAT GIVES THEM A COMFORTABLE WAY OF LIFE.
IF DOCTORS CHOOSE THEIR JOB JUST TO MAKE MONEY, THEY'RE IN THE WRONG PROFESSION. MOST DOCTORS WANT TO REALLY HELP PEOPLE.
AS FAR AS TAKING MEDINE TO THE RURAL AREAS, THIS IS A GOAL WHICH IS RESERVED FOR THE MOST DEDICATED OF DOCTORS. MOST WONT WANT THIS LIFESTYLE BECAUSE IT WOULD TAKE THEM AWAY FROM THEIR COMFORT ZONE. BUT,THEY HAVE TO REMEMBER WHAT KIND OF MEDICINE THEY ALSO WANT TO PRACTICE.
SOME TYPES OF MEDICINE ARE JUST NOT AVAILABLE IN RURAL AREAS. THE ULTIMATE CHOICE IS LEFT TO THE PHYSICIAN.
