build a nice padded bench with material that complements your decor...or try a small round (bistro) table?

A custom made window seat bench is the nicest, or something that resembles it, such as a trunk or easy chair, stool, and small side table. It will be a nice bay for reading. I have a large Victorian dollhouse on a table in my bay but that's not what most people have. Or get an easel and prop a painting on it. A big old steamer trunk left open to show your treasures is also nice. A big pedestal with a beautiful fern plant. Get an inexpensive folding screen and cover it with magazine pictures or fabric that works with your decor. You are lucky to have a nice bay to decorate. Hard to go wrong whatever you do.

I have a neighbor who has a large carousel horse in her bay window. She decorates it with the season or holiday. Example: Red/white/blue for 4th of July, shamrocks for St. Patrick's, dried leaves, pumpkins for fall. The horse she has is about the 1/2 again as large as a child's toy horse.
